Standard Edition , Essential Package , S3

Post by mporliod »

Good evening, I have a Veeam Perpetual Standard Edition license, Socket-based, Essential Package.

I would like to know whether this license allows me to perform backups to S3 and in which mode. I was told that there may be some restrictions.

Hello! Standard edition does not support object storage in any shape or form. You should migrate your license to VUL to get that. Thanks

Hi, then why do I still see the option to add an S3 repository in the “Repository” section?

That is because we don't license restores. So you're always able to register any repository in order to restore backups from it, even if you don't have a valid license. This comes handy in a DR situation, as it saves time looking for a license file for the redeployed backup server, allowing to start restores faster.
