Marketplace-Image for Azure Gen2

we need an installation image Veeam for Azure or a Marketplace-Image for Azure Gen2, as our customer allows only Gen2 Servers installations.

Is there an option to get this?

Unfortunately, there is no option to choose Gen2 during deployment, but thanks for the FR.

Hello there,

I would like to upvote that feature request and also wanted to let you know that this should not be covered under "Feature Request".
This should be a given from a Veeam side as normal product development.

We currently already have customers which have the requirement to only deploy VMs in Azure where "Secure Boot" has to be supported/activated MANDATORY.
And the current GEN1 image does not support that.
So this is really urgent for us that GEN2 will be released ASAP.

Sadly there is no workaround but as Vitaliy stated, we’ll consider this for a future release.

Hi this should be no "consideration" but a given and only a matter of how fast you should implement this.
Requirements from customers are already there so I would recommend rather in a timely manner.
Also this has a security relevance!

Hello everyone,

Due to the security requirements of our customer, we need to install a Gen2 Veeam for Azure appliance.

However, the image available in the Azure Marketplace is only provided as a Gen1 version. Is there any way to install the appliance as Gen2, or when is Veeam planning to implement this?

I can hardly imagine that this has not already been requested by other users.

This request has been implemented in our new version v13 and Veeam Backup for Azure 8.1

What's new v13 - Page 17

Generation 2 VMs support for backup appliance — Veeam Backup & Replication will now use Gen2
VM type when deploying new backup appliances in Microsoft Azure. The usage of Gen2 VMs improves
backup performance and strengthens infrastructure security.

Please also note, there is no Standalone Appliance anymore. Veeam Backup for Azure must be managed and updated through Veeam Backup & Replication.

thanks for your answer, but how could I deploy a complete new appliance through the marketplace, there is only a Gen1 image?

Or does this means, I´m only able to deploy the appliance via VBR?
We are using terraform for automatic deployment and until now we must use marketplace images.

You can only deploy the latest version using VBR.

The marketplace images aren’t being updated anymore and will be deprecated.
