Hi guys,
I would like to clarify something regarding Network Traffic Rules.
Let's assume there exists 3 locations (one central location and two offsite locations, each offsite location is connected through a 100 MBit/s WAN-connection with the central location).
The central location and each offsite location has one WAN accelerator each. There exists one B2D-job for VMs in each offsite location and one BackupCopy-Job, which should copy the VMs to the central location. The central location has a physical server system with a backup repository.
In this case, there is a source and target WAN-accelerator, whereas the central target WAN-accelerator works with each offsite source WAN-accelerator.
The traffic for the BackupCopy-Job between the offsite and central location should be limited (let's say 25MBits/s). The offsite B2D-data is in a backup repository on a physical server system in the offsite location.
As far as I understand now, the B2D-data is copied from the source backup repository to the target backup repository using the WAN-accelerator systems and without any proxy involved, right?
Therefore the Network Traffic throttling could be limited between the central and the offsite WAN-accelerators, right?
Or am I mistaken?
Regards,
Didi7

Hi Didi7,
Yes, your understanding is correct. See the entry for Backup Copy, no proxies involved it's repository to repository communication or through WAN Accelerators if configured.

Hello David,
thanks for replying so fast. I already finished Network Throttling for 12 offsite locations this way a couple of seconds ago.
