AOS 7.3.1.2+ Advisory

Post by ronnmartin61 » 2 people like this post

As many of you are aware Nutanix shipped AOS 7.5 this week. We have begun our testing cadence and have uncovered what appear to be serious compatibility issues. Nutanix has generally been very good about maintaining API compatibility between releases however this seems to be an exception. We will continue to update here as we progress toward resolution.

We've also learned that 7.3.1.2 likely has the same issue.

We've been actively working with Nutanix support to drive a resolution and it would appear that the issue is not with AOS 7.5 but rather Prism Central versions 7.3.1.2 and later. It appears Nutanix has developed a private fix which we will be testing shortly to confirm resolution and will update this post accordingly.

FYI the API issue we're facing currently is basic cluster enumeration not anything backup/restore operation specific.

I’ve seen this issue today. Prism Central is added to VBR but the cluster list cannot be retrieved.
Our setup is Nutanix running AOS 7.5, and we’re currently migrating from a 6.10 cluster to the new 7.5 one due to specific feature requirements and a tech refresh happening at the same time. Hopefully official support will be available soon.

Do you know if there’s any supported workaround by connecting VBR directly to the AOS 7.5 Prism Element instead of Prism Central?
If yes, would it later be possible to migrate from PE to PC once this release is officially supported, or would we need to recreate all jobs and perform active fulls again?

Thanks a lot @ronnmartin61 for the transparency about the situation, it really helps.
