Uninstalling SQl Server

Post by HansMeiser »

Hello,

just a quick question. i want to make sure not to mess up an allegedly easy thing.

We move from SQL Server to postgres a few months ago. Services of SQl Server are disabled. there are a lot of SQL realted packages installed on our Win Server.
Is it that simple to just remove the "Microsoft SQL Server 2016 (64 bit)) Package or are there some caveat ?

Thanks,
Hans

Hi Hans,

If no other (Veeam or third-party, local or remote) product is using that Microsoft SQL Server, then yes — you can remove Microsoft SQL Server 2016 (64-bit) from your server.

Keep in mind that you need to keep Microsoft SQL Server System CLR Types 2014 installed, as mentioned in our Help Center: software requirements for Windows-Based Backup Server.

Best,
