Prism Central 7.3+

Post by ronnmartin61 »

Nutanix unexpectedly changed the Prism Central versioning convention they utilize beginning with PC 7.3. The good news is that we caught this just prior to releasing our AHV plug-in for VBR 13.0.1 so the current release works as expected. The bad news is that older AHV plug-ins only look for the pc.XXXX.X versioning which renders us unable to determine PC compatibility.

@ ronnmartin61:

Our current environment is Prism Central 7.3+(7.3.0.xx), and our AHV plug-in for VBR is 12.7.1.12. Now we plan to upgrade Prism Central to 7.3.1.3, my question is: Could current AHV plug-in will work or not?
I am some confused about "The bad news is that older AHV plug-ins only look for the pc.XXXX.X versioning which renders us unable to determine PC compatibility."

Thank you very much!

@caspar32 if you're strictly looking for "works" but not formally supported then you may be OK unless you're implementing vTPM for your VMs. Our vTPM backup/restore support utilizes newer Nutanix API's which require us to perform explicit Prism Central versioning checks which are the source of the VBR 12.x and back AHV plug-in incompatibility. We do not have any plans to attempt to revalidate newer Prism Central and AOS versions with the 12.x and previous AHV plug-ins...

@ronnmartin61 :

Thanks for your clarify. We plan do the Veeam version upgrade to v13 maybe in the 2nd half of 2026. So we will keep staying Prism Central 7.3 + Veeam V12 for about 6 months. We want to keep the backup works smoothly.
