Good afternoon all, I just read where mdadm/software RAID is not supported for a VIA/VHR immutable repo and I wanted to ask what tri-mode controller cards people have had success with when leveraging NVMe drives for their repo/data storage.
I did see a few LSI tri mode controllers called out in the VHR thread but didn't see specifically if anyone has been using them for NVMe RAID. I also have read that hardware RAID for NVMe drives can sometimes reduce performance, but since we can't use software RAID and stay supported I was curious what others are doing in this case?
This would be for SuperMicro and HPE servers, thanks all.

Re: VIA/VHR - NVMe RAID Controller Recommendations
Hello,
while I have no first hand experience and only the data posted in the Hardened Repository ISO thread, I would expect that it doesn't matter what drive is connected to the controller as long as the controller is detected. Did you see any issues?
Performance: our current view is, that there is enough performance and dealing with software RAID is not worth it.
Best regards
Hannes
