Display Job Delay Reason

Post by tj818 » 1 person likes this post

Hi Team,

I have been troubleshooting VMWare Backups that are running much longer than expected on the weekend. There is a large delay between the "Required backup infrastructure resources have been assigned" and "Processing <VM_Name>" phases of the job.

Reviewing the logs, I see in the Svc.VeeamBackup.RTSDIspatcher.log file that the delay is due to the Datastore reaching the Active Snapshot Limit. I am going to be increasing the Snapshot limit through the registry setting, but I wanted to see if there is any Report / Details Tab that will display why a Backup Job might be waiting to be processed. I've checked the Reports under BEM and in the VBR Console under History, but I just see each phase.

I've worked with other Backup Vendors that display when a Job goes into a Waiting State and reports the reason (waiting for tapes, waiting for streams to a repository, etc) in the Job History. Would this be something that could possibly be added to Job Details/Reports if it hasn't been already?

Hello Tim,
This is a great use-case for Veeam ONE, which currently doesn't include the level of detail on the why at that specific backup session moment.

Consider it added as FR for future improvements for Veeam ONE, although I would see benefit as you mentioned to show it as well more organically within the VBR UI itself. @Egor Yakovlev what do you think?

Thank you

Sounds reasonable.
I recall seeing some session log entries related to the snapshot limit, so we’ll need to look into that case further.
