Proxmox backup architecture

Post by kostasus »

Hi,
I would like to ask for little help or confirmation with architecture of our planned Proxmox backup.
We plan to backup Proxmox cluster VE with 7 nodes with VBR 13. We will have dedicated backup hw server with KVM virt because we plan to use linux backup apliance, so we will need to have another win comp for VBR console.
On each node will be installed worker. Repository wil be local on backup server.
My question is this plan OK? Isn´t better to have backup server in Proxmox virtualization for better handling with snapshots or something what I didn´t read yet?

Thank you
Regards
Radek

Your plan is ok and will work as expected.

1 Node = 1 Worker. Put more virtual CPU than the standard. In my case we prefer AlwaysOn Workers. Help to get task done faster than boot-processs-shutdown.

Put your VBR in a Virtual Machine for manage everything else like backup copy offsite etc.. And install in your computer the VBR Console.

Simple setup and working since 8 months.

Hi edh,

great thank you for your confirmation.
As you mentioned to put VBR in Virtual machine, didn´t you mean exactly in Proxmox, I hope with KVM won´t be any problem if VBR will be in it.
I have my experience only with vmware with vcenter, so I hope you mentioned backup copy offiste and so on wil be functional.

Thank you
Regards
Radek
