Hi,
I would like to backup my Veeam config to tape. I'd hacked a solutions in v12 which worked wonderfull with three rotating tapes.
Since the upgrade to v13 all options I had to do this, where cut from the product.
I read that the Repository to Tape job only backups .vib and .vbk files. Config files are .bco files.
Would it be possible to include .bco files in the accepted file list to backup the repo to tape? It would be wonderfull to have the config files on an offline and air-gapped media.
Thanks.

Re: Veeam config to tape
Hi e.rottier,
Can you clarify how you were doing it before and why it's not working?
File to Tape job is probably the best way to protect the Configuration Backup on tape, and mostly just wondering if this was the option you were using and why it's not valid right now for you. If you're using the Veeam Software Appliance and the default repository for the configuration backup, you can add that as a source for a File to Tape job.

Re: Veeam config to tape
Hi David,
I'm using Veeam Backup & Replication. (or do I need to call it "Veeam Data Platform Foundation"?)
I don't have the screen anymore, but the upgrade wizard told me the repository to tape job is deprecated and\or needed to be removed before continuing. (I can't remember which one it was)
I used to select a local folder as a source and put that on tape, but now I can only select from an pre-filled list of objects.
But, as I write this, I now see I have to register the local B&R server as a unstructured data file server, after which I can select the source folder again! Appearantly this is new. I would've added the B&R server to this list by default. Or at least let me know if I used a source on the local server I had to register the local server.
This backup works! Had to disable VSS though for it to work.
So, thanks for pointing me in the right direction with your question.
I still would very much appreciate adding .bco files to the repo->tape jobs allow list. It would make live easier, it's more logical I think.
Regards.

Aha, I sort of figured it was this. We did indeed change the behavior in that Unstructured Data to Tape Jobs (File to tape) must be sourced from a server added as a file server or unstructured data server, and there should have been an alert for this, will check the scenario internally.
As for processing BCO with regular Backup to Tape jobs, sure we can consider it.
