V13 Update Settings Windows Installation

Post by f.neumann »

In V13 WebUI there are Update Settings available like „automatic install“ and „maintenance window“.

As there‘s a first Security Patch available for V13 i was wondering, if those setting are useless for windows based installations? Nothing updated so far automatically and there‘s no host management WebUI on Windows to trigger manually.

So: Windows based installations of V13 can only be updated „the old way“ by manually downloading Patch and Running .exe and WebUI options are available but useless here? - cloudn‘t figure out so far.

Yes, you are right. Updates for your Windows based backup server has always to be updated „the old way“.

This settings you are referring to (Global Updater Configuration) are there to control OS update behaviour of connected Veeam Infrastructure appliances.

Hi Fabian,

thanks for clarification. So some Infrastructure components might be auto-updated to a newer version while windows based main setups will stay on older version until manual update?
Or will auto-update for connected appliances postponed until veeam windows is patched?

Hi Florian
So some Infrastructure components might be auto-updated to a newer version while windows based main setups will stay on older version until manual update?
Only the operating system updates and third‑party applications provided by Veeam on the appliance are updated by Veeam Updater on the Infrastructure Appliance.

Veeam binaries (proxy, repository, gateway, mount server, etc.) are not updated by the Veeam Updater on the Infrastructure Appliance.
To update these components, install the latest VBR update or patch on the backup server and then follow the standard procedure to update all remote components.

Installing OS or third‑party updates on Infrastructure Appliances will not affect backup server compatibility.
