Question about network throttling
How is it supposed to work, by design? I am using replication from the backup server over a fiber VPN to an off-site location. It's supposed to be rate limited with networking rules, but is going at full speed. There are no veeam components at the other end, it's just an ESXi host and replication. Is this the problem? I've upgraded to v13. Do I need to have a proxy at the other end for network rules to work properly?

Re: Question about network throttling
Hi Rob
Yes. Throttling is between Veeam Infrastructure components.
This is very well documented in our Help Center. You will need a proxy server in the offsite location. You can deploy one from our Veeam Infrastructure Appliance ISO.
Best,
Fabian

Re: Question about network throttling
Ahh, the "RTFM" response. To be frank with you guys, it needs to "just work." You can't put something in the UI and have it not work, for any reason. At the very least you could put some text in there that says it has additional requirements.

Re: Question about network throttling
You can press F1 in every wizard, which will open the correct help center page for that step/feature.
Putting every consideration and limitation in a UI window would be too much. Everything would be overloaded. And information would be static. We would need patches to update or fix info boxes in the product.
Thank you,
Fabian

Re: Question about network throttling
All you need to put is: "This feature requires a proxy." That's it.
