Hi.
How many of you use Nas Synology virtualization in production?
I am thinking about adding more memory to Nas Synology on customer side and use Synology as an hypervisor to launch up a linux instance for Veeam immutable backup repository.

Re: Immutable storage on Nas Synology
Hi Bostjan,
I moved your topic to our General VBR forum as the question is more about general design.
It can work and I've heard reports of others doing this, but keep in mind that the Synology itself can be a threat as if an attacker gets access to the Synology they can delete the VM. I'm not sure what protections Synology offers against this threat but keep in mind that would mean all of the backups gone regardless of immutability.
So it can work but consider that it may not provide the full protection you're hoping for beyond accidental deletes, which can be mitigated by other options like Four-Eyes authentication and strict user management on the Veeam environment.
