[BETA] [HPE VME] Failed to upload the worker image: Cannot access a closed Stream

Post by sdolcourt »

Hello,

Issue

I used veeam-platform-service-hpemorpheusvme-13.1.0.222-0.el9.x86_64.BETA.bndl installed into 13.0.1.1071

When testing the worker, pop up message where Testing the worker veeamworker succeeds, Finished searching for uploaded worker VM images succeeds.'

Failed to upload the worker image: Cannot access a closed Stream Worker veeamworker test failed: Cannot access a closed Stream.

I don't know what a closed stream is, or if that is just Veeam's own exit code.

Question

Can a .bndl be uninstalled from the VSA? VSA does not have an Easy Button in host management UI to uninstall. I lack Linux knowledge to know if this possible via an SSH session.

Thank you!

You were having trouble installing the bndl or getting errors during the worker deployment to the Morpheus environment?

Hello,

Regarding your question: you can install a .bndl file using the Veeam Updater user interface directly through the main web UI. There's no need to log in to the host manager for this operation.

To install Veeam Plug-in for HPE Morpheus VM Essentials on a Linux-based backup server, do the following:
1. In a web browser, log in to the Veeam Backup & Replication web console as described in the Veeam Backup & Replication User Guide - https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbr/u ... tml?ver=13.
2. Switch to the Configuration page.
3. Navigate to About and click Updater Interface.
4. On the Veeam Updater page, click Upload a Hotfix.
5. In the Upload a Hotfix window, click Browse to open the downloaded file and click Upload.
6. After the file is uploaded, click Install Now.

Concerning the issue with worker deployment, I’m also interested to know how you encountered it, given that you experienced issues with the plugin installation.

Hello,

There is no issue with install. I did follow instructions rhv-olvm-sc-hypercore-xcp-ng-hpe-vme-f6 ... 01253.html

I am hopeful that the issue I presented was clear, given the text from the pop up when effecting test of the worker VM. Failed to upload the worker image: Cannot access a closed Stream Worker veeamworker test failed: Cannot access a closed Stream.

The question relates to un-install of the bundle. As in, removal of the plug-in. The updater does not have mechanisms to uninstall a bundle. I am presuming this would be executed via a SSH connection to the VSA, but I lack the knowledge of what to execute.

I don't believe the instruction set of configuring the plug-in, has any steps to gracefully remove it. How does one gracefully remove the bundle?

Apologies for the confusion - I misread your previous message.

You are correct; currently, there isn’t a user-friendly way to uninstall plugins via the UI.

To uninstall the plugin, you can do the following:
1. Connect to the host manager’s TUI root shell. For instructions, refer to the “Managing Root Shell Access” section on this page:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbr/e ... tml?ver=13
2. Run the following command:

Code: Select all

dnf remove veeam-platform-service-hpemorpheusvme

Regarding the worker deployment issue, could you please collect logs using the VBR console web UI and share them with us?
The following log file would be enough:

Code: Select all

*\Veeam\Backup\Plugins\HPEMORPHEUSVME\Veeam.HPEMORPHEUSVME.PlatformSvc.log
Alternatively, you can review this log and provide the full error stack here in the thread.
I will review it. If the root cause remains unclear, we may ask you to reproduce the issue with Debug log level enabled.

@Cody and @Evgeny,

I did find the log, it does include hostname and IP address that I would need to sanitize, if posting the text to this forum.

How best can I get this log into your hands, unchanged, so that it's just between us?
