Suppress Warnings - Mailbox does not have a valid Microsoft 365 license

Post by keironbell »

Hi All,

Is there any way to suppress warnings in VB365 for "Mailbox does not have a valid Microsoft 365 License"?

We currently have a lot of tenants showing this warning on their exchange job. These customers usually have a high turner over of staff, so they often remove the 365 license from a user and use elsewhere. I am happy for the warning to be included in the backup log for information, but it is showing the overall status of the job to show as a warning, which is what I am trying to avoid. I know we can exclude these users from the selection list either individually or via groups, but if we can stop these causing the overall job to complete with warning, that would be beneficial for us.

We use scripts with the VSPC API to raise tickets in our ticketing system, this currently just reports on failures, but I would like to look at including warnings, but with the issue mentioned above, we would be overloading our Service Desk queues with these issues.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Keiron

Hi Keiron,

As of today, it's not possible to turn off those warnings.

There needs to be better control over which warnings are reported, ideally on a per-organization or per-tenant basis. We are seeing this same warning repeatedly across our backup jobs for the exact reason described above, and it is generating unnecessary support requests.

Also, a non-licensed mailbox also should not trigger job retries. In practice, no one is licensing a mailbox within a 10-minute retry window to resolve this type of warning, so the retries will never succeed. This behavior only creates needless retry activity and noise without providing any real remediation path.

@Polina

It was once possible...

"Mailbox does not have a valid Microsoft 365 license.
This warning was suppressed in Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 v6a P20221215 (build 6.1.0.438). However, upon additional observation and testing following the release of that cumulative patch, we have identified some edge cases where the fix may not help. Starting with Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 v6a build 6.1.0.1015, the suppression of that warning was rolled back."
