Limitations of the Veeam Software Appliance with Veeam Essential License

Post by Yuya »

Hello,

I found the following post.
Does this limitation still exist?
post552308.html#p552308
For the Veeam Software Appliance V13, only the following licenses can be used:
- Veeam Universal License (VUL)
- Rental license
- NFR license

In addition, there's one temporary limitation for Veeam Essential edition only: initially, VSA deployments will be supported only in a VM on any hypervisor supported by Veeam. Deployments on physical servers will NOT be supported due to the high cost and complexity of support cases that involve troubleshooting hardware-specific issues on non-Enterprise grade hardware smaller customers tend to use, as well as the sheer size of our Essentials customer base. Since this is intended to be a temporary limitation to help alleviate support load spike, we're not enforcing it in the product itself but with our Customer Support policies only. In future, we plan to allow using any server hardware that achieves the "Veeam Ready – Appliance" certification also to Veeam Essentials users.
Thanks

Yes.
The Essential license can only be used for OVA deployments of the Veeam Software Appliance. ISO deployments are not possible.
However, it does not affect the deployment of Veeam Infrastructure Appliances for backup components.

@Mildur that is not correct, ISO deployments are also possible to supported hypervisors. Read carefully what OP quotes, that statement is completely correct.

We are considering deploying the Veeam Software Appliance on a physical server.
The license is Essentials.
Is this deployment supported?
Will we also receive customer support?

Thanks

For the Foundation license, is deploying the Veeam Software Appliance on a physical server supported?

As Fabian said, it was written on page 20 as follows.
https://www.veeam.com/veeam_data_platfo ... son_ds.pdf

"Essentials license holders cannot license an ISO based deployment."

Does the Essentials license support ISO deployment to supported hypervisors?

Thanks

Hi Yuya

Anton Gostev is right.

I’ve already started the process to discuss and correct this statement in the Feature Comparison PDF.

Hi Fabian,

The VBR user guide also states the following.
Will this be corrected as well?
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbr/u ... tml?ver=13

"Essentials license holders cannot license an ISO-based deployment."

Thanks
