Microsoft Report Viewer 2015 requirement

My security team wants to know if Veeam has a plan to replace the need for Microsoft Report viewer 2015 in future versions or after a patch to current versions?

Hi Brian,

Starting with version 13, this component is no longer used. However, it will not be removed automatically during the upgrade to v13.

If you are already running version 13, please verify that no third-party applications depend on it. Once confirmed, you can safely uninstall it.

thanks for that information, I also was not aware of that. Are there any other prerequisites that were installed with V11 and 12 that are no longer needed in V13 on Windows and could be uninstalled?
If there are, could we get either a KB or a mention in the user guide about those? I would think that most installations of V13 are upgraded at this time and would have components, that are now unneeded.

Hi Daniel,

We don’t provide a dedicated KB article for this. However, it might be a good idea to add a note in the release notes about "no longer required prerequisites from older versions". I’ll discuss this suggestion with the team.

In the meantime, you can compare the list of prerequisite software across the three versions (though let me check with the team first):
- System Requirements v11
- System Requirements v12
- System Requirements v13
