Restore of guest files for Linux VM no allowing Proxmox server for helper

Hi All

Haven't raised this as a ticket yet, as want to make sure its not just me first and a known issue!

Just had to restore a file from a Linux machine using guest file restore oprion, and as I cannot SSH into this VM I had to use the helper appliance option.
For some reason, it won't let me select (or even show me) the ProxMox servers to create this helper appliance on, it only shows me the registered VMWare servers.

I had to manually start an old VMWare server to get this restore done!

Is that the same for other users, or is it just me?

If I can SSH into the VM, then restore goes through fine using VM as a mount point.

Hello,
are you using V12 or V13 and do you have any Linux machine available in your environment where you can SSH into? In best case you might have a Linux repository (EDIT: removed to avoid confusion for future readers)

for V12: I don't have V12 available right now, but any Linux machine should be useable as "helper host"
for V13: any Linux machine can be used as "mount server" (it's in the repository settings in V13). Recommendation: use the repository server if it's a Linux machine.

Thanks for the reply,, we are on V13 latest patch.

I did tried and select the Linux hardened repo, but get the message Linux Hardened Repository x.x.x.x is not supported!

ah sorry, my mistake... Hardened Repository does not support the mount server role for security reasons. Only regular Linux repositories can do that beginning from V13.
