case 07975873
On a new pc that is not local, I set up a new instance of agent (not the pc I'm writing from). I set a storate encryption password, and I have a clear record of what it was. However I must have entered the pswd with a typo, as I cannot decrypt the backup I have.
I have remote access to the pc that created the backup, but the free version of Agent doesn't seem to have a way to expose the password used to encrypt. But since I can remote in, is there any way that I can expose the pswd on the remote machine so that I can use the backup I have?
Obviously I should have checked the pswd, but it'd be good if you had to enter the password 2x to verify.

Re: Uncertain of backup encryption password
Hi daystrom
I‘m afraid you won‘t be able to access your backup content without the correct encryption password on a new machine.
You can start with a new backup chain with a new encryption key. I don‘t see any other options.
Since you are only using the free agent and no licensed Veeam Backup & Replication server, using Password Loss Protection from Enterprise Manager is not an option.
Veeam Backup & Replication v13 introduced a „verify encryption password option“, but it requires a backup server and won‘t work with standalone agents.
Best,
Fabian

Re: Uncertain of backup encryption password
OK, thanks for that input. I'll keep trying possible typo variants just in case I get lucky.
