We have tried this twice and does not work.
While deploying the Microsoft Azure backup appliance - we use the option to create the Microsoft Azure Compute account.
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbr/u ... tml?ver=13
At Step 4 we use the option to create New Entra ID App.
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbr/u ... tml?ver=13
The Entra App gets created successfully, but by default secret is used.
We edit this Microsoft Azure compute account in VBR and then at Step 4 (same step above), but this time we select Use the existing account and then change from Secret to use Certificate with password
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbr/u ... tml?ver=13
Then we delete the secret from Microsoft Entra App (as we have switched to use certificate)
This completes successfully.
But then as we go to complete the wizard to complete Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure appliance wizard -- https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbazu ... ml?ver=8.1
the wizard fails to deploy the appliance with error invalid secret.
We switch back to use secret, then the deployment goes fine.
Looks like the Veeam backup appliance for Azure works only with secret
Can someone please test this from Veeam QA and confirm?
And then either fix this or update the documentation.

Re: Deploying Microsoft Azure backup appliance with certificate based authentication fails
Hi Sumeet,
Based on your other post, you managed to deploy it and now want to just change the setting?
