Proxmox Backup: Hot add mode - failed to map disks
Hi,
we have a very fresh installation of PVE Version 9.1.5. Proxmox is running one machine (the Proxmox Datacenter Manager), we would like to backup. So we integrated the PVE-Server to Veeam Version 12.3.2.4165.
On the PVE-Server the Proxy-Worker was installed successfully during initial connection and the connection between Veeam and the PVE-Server is ok also.
When we now try to do a backup the mentioned machine we get an error: "Failed to perform backup: Failed to map disks"
More precise:
All Objects are queued for processing
VM Size: 160GB
The worker srv-veproxy was prepared successfully
pdm01: Use worker srv-veproxy
pdm01: Failed to perform backup: Failed to map disks
Backing up the VM pdm01 in the "HotAdd" mode
The worker srv-pveproxy was shut down successfully
Job finished with error at .....
Any ideas?
Thanks

Hello,
That sounds like a technical issue. Please provide a support case ID for this issue, as requested when you click New Topic.
PS: Support can only help if you upload logs https://www.veeam.com/kb1832
Also, I see that you are not using latest version of the Veeam Plug-in for Proxmox VE, see here.

Re: Proxmox Backup: Hot add mode - failed to map disks
Hi,
Case #07982054
I uploaded logs to the case. Unfortunatly it is not possible to collect joblogs from Proxmox with the support-tool, so I zipped and uploaded the logs.
Can I use the veeamplugin v13 on a v12 Installation?
As far as I can see I only can use:
Veeam Plug-In for Proxmox VE 12.1
Version : 12.1.5.17
We use Veeam 12.3.2.4165

Re: Proxmox Backup: Hot add mode - failed to map disks
Hello,
The Veeam Plug‑in for Proxmox VE v13 is bundled with Veeam Backup & Replication v13.
So if you want to use the v13 plug‑in, you will need to upgrade your Backup server to version 13 first.

Hi, yes - we cannot upgrade to V13 atm. We have this in schedule for next year as the backup-infrastructure-hardware gets renewed then.

Re: Proxmox Backup: Hot add mode - failed to map disks
Hi,
thanks for pointing me to the proxmox agent version. Although we have the latest V12 running of Veeam B&R there was an older version of the Veeam Plugin for Proxmox installed. Downloading V. 12.1.5.17 seems to solve the issue.
Linux-VM was backed up successfully.
Windows-VM is running at 1%...
so we have done a big step.
