- When using the Restore Portal, the Restore Operators role can restore data for managed users or groups.
For Exchange, it seems possible to specify a target folder for the restore.
However, is it not possible to restore SharePoint or OneDrive data to an arbitrary folder?
- Regarding the restore concept, is the following understanding correct?
- Restore Portal: restores are generally performed to the original location
- Explorer: allows restores not only to the original location but also to an arbitrary user or location
I would like to clearly understand what can and cannot be done using the Restore Portal
Thanks,
-

Re: [Question] Clarification of Restore Capabilities and Limitations in the Restore Portal
Hi Tatsuya
The available restore options are documented in our Help Center.
By default, restores are performed to the original location. However, you can choose a different folder or location within the original object — for example, a different folder in Exchange or a different document library/list in SharePoint.
The Veeam Explorers provide additional restore capabilities.
Best,
Fabian
