Feature Request: Automatic exclusion of offline Database in SQL plugin

Post by geetansh » 2 people like this post

Hello,

We recently started using Veeam plugin for our SQL servers backup. Database team is getting multiple SQL job failure alerts for offline databases. Unlike Native SQL jobs, which gives the option to exclude offline DBs from backup, the plugin offers no such option and the Database team needs to manually exclude each offline database.

Please let me know if there is already a workaround available for this problem or if any additional information is required from our side.

Regards

Hi Geetansh,

At the moment, manually excluding is the only option to handle this scenario. Nevertheless, your request has been noted, I agree that there is an opportunity to improve this behavior.

Thanks!

This feature is very much required as the reports generated are giving backup failure while any one of the SQL DB is offline.

Thanks

It is not only for offline databases, we also see this issue with standby and snapshot databases. Veeam should automatically exclude these type of databases (Offline, standby and snapshot) which are non-backpable. we have a case with Veeam R&D team for the same. Hope they act soon ;) otherwise the noise from these failures is a huge operational overhead.
