PowerShell direct leaves wsmprovhost processes running

Post by jirkava »

Veeam 13.0.1.1071, S2D cluster WS2022.
VMs are not available over the network from the backup server or hypervisor.
For application consistency VBR uses PowerShell direct.
After a few days, backups start to fail and VMs on the Hyper-V server cannot be managed remotely. Neither Enter-PSSession on the Hyper-V server nor mmc work.
More than 300 wsmprovhost processes are running on the Hyper-V guest under the account specified in Veeam.
Killing these processes will not solve the problem. Restarting the server will help.
How can we ensure that Veeam terminates these processes correctly?

Hi Jiri,

Sounds like a technical issue, so please open a Support Case as is noted when creating a topic. We will not be able to assist with troubleshooting over the forums.

Be sure to include logs for Support to review. (Pick 1-2 of the jobs that use PSDirect, use the 1st radio option to export logs for those jobs, that should be enough for Support to start with)

Please share your case number once created, thanks!
