Opening Veeam Hardened Repository in WinSCP ...

Hello,

in order to conveniently remove some directories and files in a test-repository (no hardened repository) on a VIA-based Veeam Hardened Repository server, I would like to use WinSCP.

As soon as SSH is activated in the VIA-GUI on the system, you can connect via WinSCP and SCP protocol, but I am unable to activate sudo access in order to browse the /var/lib/veeam subdirectory.

I used the Advanced button in the WinSCP session window, selected Environment => SCP/Shell and used 'sudo su -' in the Shell field. Then I tried to connect and was immediately rejected with the error ...

"Error skipping startup message. Your shell is probably incompatible with the application (BASH is recommended)."

Then I changed the entry in the Shell field to '/bin/bash', saved the connection and was able to connect, but without sudo permission, which is necessary in order to browse /var/lib/veeam subdirectory.

How can I connect with sudo permission?

P.S: I am well aware about the sensitivity of /var/lib/veeam subdirectory. I am just looking for an alternative to using the shell on the server itself and use commands to remove unnecessary subdirectories and files from failed BackupCopy jobs.

I am pretty sure, no matter what, you will not be able to do this. The appliances are locked down for a reason, and you will need the console for this.
