Hey. Thank you for your reply. So in this moment, there is no way to get a beta? Or a RTM version? Thank you.

I think there's a big difference between the 2 products. Companies looking at HPE VME are already running Veeam, and they need to know the support will be there. Proxmox was popular among hobbyists to start with (that will never use Veeam) and has suddenly had to grow up - Veeam support has given it credibility it didn't have before.

I'm getting ready to deploy VME at several sites. We are a Veeam partner and an HPE Partner. It would be great if Veeam moved beyond supporting oVirt and included libvirt based solutions. Given Ubuntu's widespread support I'm very surprised that hasn't already happened. Isn't Proxmox based on libvirt???

Why is this so difficult????

Hey Ted, Proxmox doesn't use libvirt, but several other vendors do. Libvirt integration would allow us to manage individual hosts, however most customers expect our solution to be able to manage the entire virtualization platform and track VMs when they migrate or get deployed through some sort of centralized management/cluster API. Those control plane API's tend to differ quite a bit between platforms. The underlying API's to manage a checkpoint/track changes through dirty bitmaps can be reused across platforms but we also need to be able to integrate with the Management APIs to perform operations like restoring to the original location/register the VM with the management servers UUID, track VMs when they migrate etc. It would be like trying to manage individual ESXi hosts without vCenter. It's possible but not ideal. We aren't using oVirt for our HPE integration, however it is the base model for our UHAPI that some alliance partners are looking at implementing due to it being an opensource API that offers a rest API for data transfer vs needing SSH access to every host and worrying about different versions of Libvirt/Qemu/KVM and Host OS features. Some virtualization platforms also have unique storage implementations such as HCI vendors that might not be using Qcow2/RAW formats, in which case we need to work with those vendors to properly snapshot/track changes on their platform.

Cody, Thanks for the response. I am curious why the beta is no longer available. I found a really good article showing it being installed and tried to download it but the link no longer works. The author checked and verified he no longer has access to it. It seems like Veeam has it working in the article. https://community.veeam.com/blogs-and-p ... #post89494

We're planning for our RTM/GA in the next few weeks. The main driver of the beta was to collect feedback from customers and partners on potential issues that could arise from other environments. The beta was set to expire automatically last week and since we're close to the release, we didn't prolong the expiration of the link or license key.

Veeam 13.1.0.271 (March 03, 2026) ?

Is this only for HPE VM Essentials or will a new build for Veeam B&R be released today?
Using the most recent Veeam B&R in many different environments now and counting!

I have the Windows version of Veeam running 13.0.1.1071, and installed the VME plgin successfully...
Following the procedure I go to Backup Infrastructure - Managed Servers - Add server - Virtualization Platforms and there I should see VM Essentials as option...
Well I only see VMware and HyperV... What is missing?
Tried to uninstall and reinstall the VME plugin already, same result...
Also a reboot of the server did not help...

Are you running with a socket license? With a VUL, you will see these options.

Tnx, looked at it and recreated a cert, but does not fix the issue...
FYI I can see the Veeam Cloudnative backup appliance and Kasten option in the Add Server screen, but don't see Nutanix, Proxmox or VME to add...

If this an older VBR server that's been upgraded several times, I had to go in and clear out some of the older self-signed Veeam created certificates on my VBR server then create a new one. I would suggest opening a support case if the KB mentioned didn't resolve the problem.

Have you also checked if the DbProvider reg key exists on your server; issue 3 in the KB article?
If so, then I would open a support case as Cody suggested.

I confirm this is the case (it is an old VBR server upgraded several times) and it was actually issue one that fixed the issue... I can see VME now in the list, thanks for the assistance and providing the link!

"Stay calm - our IT team is already solving the problem."

Been so since yesterday. any ETA on a fix?

Hey all, just going to throw out some oddities as I work through this plugin.

We are in the process of migrating from VMware to VME and want to use VEEAM for both migration and long-term backups, as usual.

I don't have a ticket in with VEEAM yet, as this migration is also being worked on by a partner vendor. But I wanted to put up some notes about our experience.

Environment:
- Linux Appliance installed on VME. Version: 13.0.1.2067
- Veeam Plug-in for HPE VM Essentials. Version: 13.1.0.271

Notes:
- Not sure if it's intentional, but after plugin install, you do not have the option to select VME in the appliance console, but you can with the Windows Backup and Replication Console.
- After adding the server via the Windows Console, it does not show up in the inventory in the appliance console.
- If I reboot the VEEAM appliance, the VME server(s) vanish in the Windows console. It shows up again when I reinstall the plugin. This is repeatable, every time.

This has kind of thrown a wrench in moving forward.

I will likely try to do the Windows Server version next and see if that behaves differently.

It would probably be helpful to open a support case to investigate. When you say the Appliance Console, are you referring to our Web UI for VBR? The Web UI isn't fully featured yet and can't manage most of the plugin-based hypervisors today. We are working to expand the Web UI in upcoming releases. To manage VME in Backup & Replication, you need to use the Windows-based installed client connected to the VSA. The VSA needs the plugin bndl installed on it through the vsa management portal. Is that what you are reinstalling?

Yep, that's what I understood. We are using the Linux appliance. I am doing everything via the VBR Windows Console.
