API Access

Post by ainwer82 » 1 person likes this post

In the past, we had access to the API in Preview to retrieve the reports. But we no longer have access, which is incomprehensible if it already exists.
Unfortunately, there are also no alternatives such as Powershell or similar.

Hi,

The API was in preview but due to breaking changes had to be pulled.

I don't have an eta for its return, but as we have a report scheduler option built into the solution hopefully that can satisfy your report retrieval requirements in the interim.

Hi,

as messages such as ‘not have a valid Microsoft 365 licence’, ‘Item has been changed during the backup’ constantly occur in larger environments and there are no filter options in the report scheduler or not all logs are sent, this is not an alternative.

Hello,
Is there any other way to access Veeam Data Cloud data programmatically?

We are also waiting for the API te become available for Veeam Data Cloud (VDC).
We want to automate TOPdesk incident logging whenever a backup had failed or got warnings or did not run. Would be great for monitoring and reporting too.
No ETA known yet?

Also we need a VDC API for getting the number of licensed users to automate our billing process.
Is there already a release date for this functionality?

Hi Veeam team,

We are an MSP and are managing our clients' backups.

We need access to either the API or a report to allow us to obtain the number of seats in use for billing purposes.
Currently, there is no such thing, so we have to bill manually... (Seriously?!, In 2026...)
Also no report or API to list the accounts consuming a seat, which is regularly requested by our client to justify the invoice.

Is Veeam Data Cloud in beta? Or on production?
Because if we can't invoice our clients there is very little interrest to use this product.

Hi,

The API topic is one that we've discussed above, we recognise the importance and will be communicating our updates on this in the short-term.
There are reports to list the accounts consuming licenses within VDC, these can be run on a per tenant level.

The current reports are a limitation for customers too, not only MSP's.

Just an example: Why are the monthly details report not showing us really the details?
Which users have been protected, did it include OneDrive or not, what sites, which teams sites and so on.
This should not be called detailed report. VeeamO365 ONPREM has better reports. Why does this Veeam Data Cloud product not have at least equal like reports?

Another example: we want to know -not only currently licensed users- but also go back in time and get us a list of licensed users from last month or a specific date.
We want to know who those users are, so be able to export to a csv. If we cannot go back in time, that is fine if you can give us the API that gets us the current list of licensed users (which you already have in the gui). We will generate it daily ourselves to keep track and crosscheck in case there is a licensing error/change.

Is there an ETA on the API ? Topic started May 2025.
It should not take this long to develop or fix any issues it had in preview before. Is Veeam missing developers or is it setting its focus on other products?
