Guest file restore fails - Azure Local (Hyper-V 2025) PSDirect

Hallo,

Case # 07902076

In our Azure Local / Hyper-V we cant get guest file restore to work, it tries alot of different ports, and then atlast it tries with PS direct, but it fails with
"Error (1) Unknown error 0x80131500. Failed to execute PowerShell command: The credential is invalid. (System.Exception)"

What credentials is the error refereing to?
The credentials used for auth. to the AzureLocal/Hyper-V host or what?

The Veeam support wants me to change the Guest interaction from x64 to x86 on the Azure local host, but I dont see that change anything.

Thanks for sharing the case number and sorry to hear about the troubles.

Please continue with Support on the case, and if there are steps where it's not clear on the intended effect, feel free to ask for clarification from your Support Engineer. I see that the case was already escalated to our Advanced Support Team and perhaps they are aware of an issue where changing the Guest Interaction Service helps.

Similarly, confirm with Support on this, but we recently released a patch for v13 and I seem to recall some HyperV related issues got resolved, so an update may be prudent.

@david.domask , Already patched to latest version, because I saw the change on the guest interaction part.

But no luck.

I'll continue to work with the support team.

Hi MacLovin-It, welcome to the forums.

The topic creator's case involved limitations on using gMSA accounts with PSDirect to perform File Level Restores (FLR), as it's currently not supported (specifically for PSDirect, FLR over network works with gMSA)

If this doesn't match your situation, please open a Support Case and allow Veeam Support to review the behavior.
