migrate/evacuate Data Domain to Hardened Repository

Post by AlexL »

I have a SOBR with 1 performance extent on Dell Data Domain and 1 capacity extent on Wasabi.
I want to migrate the performance extent to a hardened repository (xfs with block cloning).
If I add the hardened repository to the SOBR and evacuate the DDD extent, will it use fast block cloning or does it copy the deflated data?
This matters of course for the sizing of the hardened repository.

I'm believe it will use fast block cloning but not 100% certain, a solid confirmation would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,

Evacuating extents will utilize fast clone if the target extents support it. Please note though that the data will be inflated as it leaves the gateway for the DataDomain and is sent to the hardened repository, so there will be additional traffic between the gateway and the Hardened Repository during the evacuation,

The SOBR Evacuate page explains this in more detail.
