Backup Configuration for Customer Using AOS 6.5

The customer has requested a backup configuration for their Nutanix environment.
There are critical VMs in place, and the current AOS version is 6.5.

The customer is currently running Veeam Backup & Replication 12.3.2.4165, and the AHV plugin version is 7.

According to the requirements for version 7, it is supported starting from AOS 6.8 or later.

In this case, we would like to confirm whether it is possible to:

Remove the current AHV plugin version 7, and

Install AHV plugin version 6.1 to perform backups on AOS 6.5.

Additionally, we would like to ask if there is any recent experience or reference case of performing backups on AOS version 6.5.

At this time, there is no confirmed plan to upgrade the AOS version.

@dulgidulgi we dropped support for 6.5 when it went end-of-support in June of 2025 exclusively to match Nutanix support lifecycle timing not for any technical reasons. The set of Nutanix API's we leverage in the 7 plugin should be fully compatible with AOS 6.5. I understand that the current configuration is technically unsupported but in my opinion the feature loss and environmental disruption are probably not worth downgrading particularly if everything is operating correctly currently.
