Tapejob timeout issue

Post by Moccamaster »

I might not understand correctly how this works, but what I can understand from various searches when a tapejob need another tape, it will request it and wait upto 72 hours before timing out.
Source: https://bp.veeam.com/vbr/3_Build_struct ... /tape.html

However, what I experience is that the 72hours is counted from when the job is actually started, not from when the job requests a tape.

I'm using VBR 12.3.2
Is this "working as expected" or a bug that have been fixed somehow?

Example:
Tapejob starts on sunday @ 2.00AM, tuesday midday it runs out of space and will need another tape. If I dont react before wednesday, it will timeout @ 2.00AM wednesday exactly 72hours from when the tapejob started.

Hi Moccamaster,

Let me check internally on this, my understanding was the countdown starts from the first time the tape job starts the "Waiting for Tape" phase, but allow me to confirm that.

@Moccamaster,

Best to open a Support Case on this one and let Veeam Support review the debug logs for the tape job.

The count down indeed begins from the first time job needs to wait for tape, so best to let Support review what happened on that particular run.

Please share your case number once created, thanks!

I'm on rental, so I cannot open a Case.

I have forwarded this to my Veeam Partner and hopefully they will be able to open a case.
