Hi,I just have a question about coexisting of socket perpetual and vul license.
From what I read on the forum and in the official policy license policy page ( https://www.veeam.com/legal/licensing-policy.html) there are two different approach
to manage socket + vul license:
1) merge the license into a single file using veeam myportal web portal
the merging license limitations are explained here: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbr/u ... tml?ver=13
or
2) from version 10 we can combine on the same server two different kind of license ( socket + vul )
So we can upload a socket perpetual license ( with active maintenace ) and a vul license pack into the same server. The support and functionality level will be the lower ( socket standard with basic support + vul advanced with production support = standard feature + basic support
Until here everything is it correct ?
So we have a Veeam Data Platform Essentials Standard 2 socket perpetual license with active maintenance. Could we make it coexist ( not merge ) with a vul veeam data platform essential lic ? We want use socket for vm and vul for phisical machine and nas. I am agree that we can't go over the "essential" limitation ( 50 vul, but we just need 10 extra vul for now ). I also know that I can't use vul to backup vm.
If this is not possible cause the essential "special" kind of license could you link me the webpage where veeam explain this ?
I only found this link: https://www.veeam.com/legal/licensing-policy.html and from here it seems possible;
At point 1.5 I only fount these limitations:
Both Socket and VUL licenses are valid product licenses : yes
Company name matches between licenses: yes
Socket License Key will define the Support level, Support ID and Product Edition: ok, so standard feature and basic support
Only one Socket and one VUL License Key can be installed into the product at the same time
Sockets will only protect VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V VMs
VUL licenses, when in the presence of sockets, will protect NAS, Agents, plug-ins, additional hypervisor and Cloud VMs, and any workload excluding VMware and Hyper-V VMs.:ok socket cover vm and vul nas + phisical pc
VUL license expiration will, following the grace period, disable all product functionality.: ok but what happen if instead of subscription vul we'll buy permanent vul ?
Socket license support expiration will not have any impact on the product’s functionality, except for the limitation to install product updates shipped after the support expiration date.: ok, like in the past for socket perpetual license
Important note: To receive production support for a combined license, the Socket license must be at the Production Support and Maintenance level.: we don't need production support but just basic so no need to upgrade support to production
I apologize if the message is so long, but necessary for clarify this particular case.
Thanks

Re: question about Socket + vul license combining ( no merge )
Hi Fabrizio,
For questions on licensing, it's best to reach out to your Veeam Sales Representative or open a Licensing Case with Veeam Support, they can help with some of the questions and also give further direction.
You are correct that merging licenses with different support level will take the lowest support level / edition between the two and workloads will be licensed as described in the User Guide articles you've found.
However, it's best to review your licensing questions with your Sales Rep / Licensing Support as some of your questions on "custom" licenses will need to be discussed there.
