Apologies if this has been asked before but what is the recommended version of Veeam to run these days?
I'm currently on v12.3.2 with socket licensing (so no VSA) and was wondering if there was any reason to upgrade to v13 or leave it as is for the time being since support for v12 doesn't end until 02/2027.
Cheers

Re: Recommended Version
Hi justind,
Our recommendation is always to upgrade to the most recent version if not for the new features for the security fixes and other issue fixes that are included in newest release.
Many organizations have a Major Version + 1 policy requiring that the first rollup patch or minor update be release. We just released 13.0.1. P2 for v13 and have our 13.1 update planned for later this year.
Ultimately it comes down to your requirements, but there is a lot in v13 that may be attractive, see the v13 What's New document for more details, you can check for items relevant to your environment.

Re: Recommended Version
it depends on how you interprete the Product Lifecycle page here:
https://www.veeam.com/product-lifecycle.html
V12 had "End-of-Fix" in September 2025 !!
End of Support is in 2027, but that essentially only means you can still open support cases for issues with jobs and general functionality. However, if a new hypervisor (or even just a new hypervisor version) appears that requires added support, it’s unlikely that Veeam will include it, since no new fixes or updates will be released for that product version anymore.
I wouldn’t rely on edge cases like the 12.3 hotfixes that were just released due to the CVE 9.9 issue. According to the product lifecycle, these versions shouldn’t even be released anymore. I guess it’s mainly because there is still a significant user base running v12. However, I don’t expect this kind of situation to occur again before 2027.
