Hi.
I've a physical server with an LTO6 drive with the latest V13.
I've setup tape job to put on tape VM backup + 1 repository.
This repository is not filled by this server but by an other server with the latest V12.3.
I refresh this repository on the physical server with à powershell command and i can see on imported disk that is up to date.
The problem is that the tape job see it as empty.
Someone can help me ?????
Hello! This is expected behavior. Tape backup jobs will only process backups created by the Veeam server that they created. Backups created by another Veeam server, those backups are skipped. This is documented here: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbr/u ... mixed-jobs
So i've upgraded to V13, V13 is not compatible with 2012r2, so it's not possible to backup to tape without make a "backup file tot tape " job to copy external repository file on tape.
I think it was possible in V12 (PS script i use had already work in the past).
With your script that you're using to import the backup data, are you also mapping that data to a dummy job on the Veeam server? When you're importing the data is it via a repository or are you manually importing the data? Your screenshot cuts of where it would show if the Veeam server is identifying the files are being associated with a repository, or just as being imported.
I'm not sure what else the script did, but as Brad noted, Backup to Tape will only look for backups that were created by the backup server itself, imported backups were ignored for Backup to Tape. File to Tape will work here, but would require a bit of planning to ensure you're not copying excess data to tape.
Is there a need to have separate backup servers or is consolidating to a single backup server to manage both environments feasible? Same components can be re-used on the consolidated backup server.
