Feature Request - Add non-domain windows machines

Post by alexsene59 »

Hi everyone,

I’m currently using Veeam Enterprise Manager on a Windows Server and I would like to migrate to a Veeam Enterprise Manager on VSA setup.
All my backup servers are running Veeam 12.3.2 on Windows Server, and none of them are joined to a domain. Unfortunately, I’m unable to add them to my new VSA‑based Enterprise Manager.
I opened a case with Veeam Support, and they confirmed that this feature is not available at the moment.
Do you know if support for adding non‑domain Windows backup servers is planned, and if so, when it might become available?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello,
and welcome to the forums.

Can you please share the case number? I guess it's a V12 limitation and if it should exist also in V13, then it's something that I would like to look into.

Best regards

Hello,
yes, that case refers to a V12 limitation. I don't see how that applies to V13.

Hello,
My Veeam Enterprise Manager is on VSA 13. However my backups servers are on V12 on windows (no domain linked).
So can i add them to my console ? Or is it a limitation ?

Hello,
no, that is the limitation support mentioned in the support ticket https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbr/e ... tml?ver=13
user guide wrote:When adding backup servers running version 12 to software appliance Veeam Enterprise Manager, use Active Directory (AD) credentials.[...]
Using local Windows credentials doesn't work because the Veeam Software Appliances do not support NTLM for security reasons. When the backup server is on V13, then NTLM is not needed anymore.

Hello,
no. V12 won't get feature updates anymore. It's "end of fix".
