[FEATURE REQUEST] - customized setting based on the source database tier

Post by CarlosEsteves »

Hello,

Using VBAZ to backup Azure SQL database is possible, but if do not set parameters for the size in the staging server, it will create staging based on the original size of the DB and this can prevent fast export.

if we configure a size like below, we can´t backup different tiers of Azure SQL Dbs.

StagingServersWithUserDefinedSku="/subscriptions/<redacted>/resourceGroups/<redacted>/providers/Microsoft.Sql/servers/<redacted>"
StagingDbSku="S12"

It will be good to have a customized setting based on the database tier

Thanks

Hi Carlos,

We'll look into enhancements on this level but I cannot provide an ETA when this would be available as we'll need to find a good solution in general besides configuring it 1 by 1 per AzureSQL server.

Hi Carlos,

We've had some brief internal discussions around this. Would it be a (potential) solution if we would implement a way to scale-up the staging server during the backup process?

Our target is to have a fast backup and we can do it today by using a big size of the DB in the staging server ! If increase the staging server can bring the same results, I´m ok with it.
