Hi,
After upgrading to v13 the deployment behavior of the Persistent Agent has been changed. In stead of deploying the Installer service during job run this now requires a manual deployment with the Deployment Kit. I get that it's preferred to not have firewall ports open from Guest Interaction Proxy to the Guest OS ADMIN$. But also when VIX is used, it no longer installs the Installer service anymore, while this doesn't use the network and thus is more secure. So I wonder why deployment of Installer Service has been removed when using Persistent Agent through VIX?
Kind regards,
Bastiaan

Re: Persistant Agent and VIX
Hi Bastiaan,
Everything with Persistent Agents has been worked around deployment kits in v13 as you discovered. The process has evolved a bit from previous versions and instead of simply installing the installer service only, Deployment Kits use a more secure method with a temporary certificate from the Backup Server during Deployment kit installation; on first successful job run with Application Aware Processing, the temporary certificate is replaced with a longer-term (10 year) certificate for authenticating with the Guest OS for AAIP.
So, deployment kits are the way to go moving forward.
