Replication from VCD to VCF9/VVF9

Post by miyu.masuda »

Is it possible to replicate a VM managed by VCD to a vCenter managed by VCF9 or VVF9?
Would it be possible to do this by configuring a replication job to replicate the VM managed by VCD as a vCenter-managed VM?

Hi Miyu,

Replication from VMware Cloud Director to VMware vCenter Server is not possible.

However, you can try using a VMware vSphere replica job and select the VM through the source VMware vCenter Server (which is automatically added to the backup console through the VMware Cloud Director configuration). Keep in mind that the Replica VM will lose all VMware Cloud Director-specific settings.

Also note that VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF-A) is not supported yet by Veeam.
For VCF v9, we support individual components such as vCenter Server 9.0 and ESXi 9.0. VMware Cloud Director is still supported, but the supported version depends on your current Veeam Backup & Replication build.

Best,
