Snapshot on backup section

Post by matteu »

Hello,

Is it normal on the Home -> Backup I can see disk / disk (copy) / ... AND snapshot ?
I didn't configure something special to get snapshot here and I can see I have 1 snapshot on all my VMs too. When backup job runs, it create new snapshot, remove the previous one and on Veeam side I also see this and I have 1 restore point snapshot.

Is it expected ?

I guess it's what's mentioned here : https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbr/u ... tml?ver=13 and https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbr/u ... tml?ver=13
That means with AHV 1 snapshot is done but never removed on the backup process right ?

Because on vsphere documentation here : https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbr/u ... tml?ver=13
It's clearly mentioned the snapshot is removed at the end of the process : "After the backup proxy finishes reading VM data, Veeam Backup & Replication requests the vCenter Server or ESXi host to commit the VM snapshot."

@matteu yes bonus RPO ;). We do expose the rolling backup snapshot as another restore point as well as any other VM snapshots created on the AHV cluster. A second snapshot is created on each backup job run for CBT calculation and then the prior snapshot is deleted so that the one you're seeing is always the one from the last job run
