Hi,
I am submitting my feedback here because I was directed to post on the forum in the following support case.
===
Case # 08068486
===
Use VB4AWS to back up an EC2 instance in a private subnet.
When you restore the instance by selecting the “Restore to original location” option, the EC2 instance will start up with only a private IP address.
This is because the original EC2 instance that was backed up had only a private IP address and was not assigned a public IP address.

However, if you select the “Restore to a new location, or with different settings” option, the public IP assignment is set to the default value.
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbaws ... tml?ver=10
To be honest, I don’t think it’s appropriate from a security standpoint for public IP assignment to be the default setting.
I believe the default should be not to assign a public IP.
Alternatively, it should be selected automatically based on the EC2 settings of the backup source.
I hope this will be changed in future updates.
Kind Regards,
Asahi

Re: Regarding the default setting (Public IP Assign) when restoring an EC2 instance from the VB4AWS UI
Hi Iio Asahi,
We will look into future enhancements on how to handle this in a better way. For now, there is no workaround besides unchecking the box when doing a restore.
Thank you for your feedback.
