Influence of vNIC type used during a P2V restore

Post by chrisflyckelen »

Hi everyone,

I have a quick question regarding the virtual NIC type used during a bare metal restore to vSphere with Veeam Recovery Orchestrator.
Is there a way to configure VRO to use an E1000 adapter instead of VMXNET3?

The background is that the customer prefers not to pre-install Open VM Tools, as they are not required in the production environment.

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,
Chris

Hi Chris,

Please let me double-check how this works today.

We have a registry key for Veeam Backup & Replication to control the network type for Instant Recovery, but I am not aware of an equivalent one for Entire VM Restore.
May I ask what type of workload you are restoring with BMR to vSphere? Is it a vSphere VM, a Hyper-V VM, or a Veeam Agent backup?

Best,

Hi Fabian,

I'm restoring an Oracle Linux 9.x server to vSphere, and the customer is concerned about to install open vm tools beforehand.

Greets,
Chris
