Feature Request: E-mail Settings - Have Subject settings apply to Daily Reports and other notifcations from VBR server.

Post by TimLawhead » 1 person likes this post

The E-Mail Settings Subject field seems to only apply to Job alerts. My Daily Reports don't include the Subject changes.

I use email rules for all sorts of systems and like to setup rules to manage the influx of notifications. I am limited to what the From email address can be. This allows me to define a rule to catch all emails from that account, but I prefer to put the VBR's server name as the first part of the Subject name and then direct emails based off the Subject contents to my desired email folders.

Current E-mail Settings -> Subject field:

"VBRServerName Alert [%JobResult%] %JobName% (%VmCount% machines) %Issues%"

The daily reports come in with subjects like: "[Failed] Health check (1 objects) 1 failed" or a test email gets a subject "Veeam Backup and Replication."

I'd prefer these to be:

"VBRServerName [Failed] Health check (1 objects) 1 failed"
"VBRServerName Veeam Backup & Replication"

Hello Tim,

We appreciate your feedback.
Email Notification Settings have some variables in the Subject, but I understand that it can be not enough for your purposes.
We will discuss this improvement for the next Veeam B&R releases.

Thank you.

It would be helpful if all notifications, including system/background notifications, such as "Removing checkpoints in background," used the custom subject configured in Options → Email Settings.
We manage hundreds of emails from all Veeam servers every day based on the variables contained in the custom subject.
Emails sent by the Veeam server without relying on the global notification settings become impossible to manage.
