French - VDC and compliance with HDS requirements

Post by sylvain29 »

Hello,

We are already using Veeam Data Cloud to host and secure our backup data, and we would now like to clarify its compliance with HDS requirements (French Healthcare Data Hosting certification).

We would like to get clarification on the following points:

Is Veeam Data Cloud officially HDS certified, or hosted on an HDS-certified infrastructure?
Where is the backup data physically stored (Azure, AWS, region/country)?
Does Veeam provide a recommended architecture to meet HDS compliance requirements (for example through an HDS-certified partner, external HDS-certified storage, BYOS/BYOK, etc.)?
If Veeam Data Cloud is not natively HDS certified, what would be the best approach to securely host and protect healthcare data using Veeam solutions?

Thank you in advance for your feedback and recommendations.

Hi @sylvain29

I'm certainly not an expert on these certifications, but here is the official documentation: https://www.veeam.com/company/trust-center.html. More information can be found here: http://my.veeam.com/compliance-portal (You will need to login there)

I can't speficially say whether it is officially HDS certified, but our backup data is physicall stored on Azure, and the region (or country) has been decided when you did the setup. In your case I suspect you have chosen the French region (French central). For obvious reasons I have no insights into that.
