Very intresting tape sharing plattform eLMM from eXstor use IEEE 1244 standard.
It would be nice to implement this standard to Veeam.

Re: IEEE 1244 for Veeam
Hi Alexander, welcome to the forums.
Can you clarify your request a bit more and perhaps share a link to your vendor documentation on what you're looking for?
Searching the standard, I can only find links that tell the IEEE 1244 is inactive / withdrawn, but I suppose I'm not finding what you're requesting.
For tape we currently support the following configurations, but I suppose your request is more about some tape library sharing mechanism, but having a bit of trouble finding something concrete.

Re: IEEE 1244 for Veeam
I do not think that we support IEEE1244 within our product for tape library management. We support the SCSI command based communication (which is the successor for IEE1244) with libraries with the default SCSI windows library driver and vendor specific library drivers. We support a very wide range of vendors and tape libraries.

It is best to share with us the vendor and product line, to comment about compatibility.

On the page of
https://exstor.de/en/tapetools/
you can find the vendor statement about compatibility with Veeam.
The previous used products for IBM libraries and their tape library virtualization are compatible with Veeam. Specifically virtual partitioning works with us.
The only thing that does not work in this context is virtual drive sharing, where a single drive is shared accross multiple backup products or backup installations. We reserve the drive for us and never give it back. No plans to support this drive sharing capability in the next time.
