Hi R&D Forums
As a service provider, we send automated job notifications to our customers. These notifications currently include the detailed backup report as an HTML attachment.
Over the past few weeks, we have observed that these notification emails are increasingly being quarantined by customers using Microsoft Exchange Online. Analysis of the mail headers confirms that SPF, DKIM, and DMARC are all correctly configured and pass validation. However, the HTML attachment is being flagged as suspicious by Microsoft Exchange Online Protection (EOP), resulting in quarantine – even when the sender address has been whitelisted tenant-wide and a Mail Flow Rule (Transport Rule) has been configured on the recipient side.
Have you received similar error messages from other customers or service providers?
How has your experience been over the past few weeks?
Feature Request:
We would like to request that a future version includes the option to send the detailed backup report as plain text directly in the email body, as an alternative to the current HTML attachment. This would significantly improve compatibility with strict spam and malware filtering policies such as Microsoft EOP.
Environment:
- Product: VBM 365 8.4.x
- Sender: Exchange Server on-premises (SE CU1)
- Recipient: Microsoft Exchange Online (EOP)
- Issue observed since: approximately May 2026
Thank you very much for all your feedback—we have already reported this to Veeam Support and logged it as a feature request.
