V13 Appliance V13 classic and backup chains
Hi,
I planned to migrate to the V13 Appliance version.
I read that it was possible to export the configuration from the V13 classic and import the configuration in the Appliance.
Than it would be possible to remap the backups.
I wanted to know if it's the case, if it's possible to work with the same backup chain for a job. I mean if i active the job in the appliance and disable the job on the V13 classic side, does the job of the appliance is going to continue with the same backup chain or is it going to recreate a new backup chain?
Thanks
Best regards,
Nicolas

Re: V13 Appliance V13 classic and backup chains
Hello, Nicolas,
To migrate from Windows to Linux, you must register on our conversion sign-up page. If you have a small environment, it may be easier to simply rebuild everything from scratch and import your current backup files, and yes, once you import the chains to new system, then re-create the jobs, it will be possible to re-map the chains to the new jobs and continue backups. If you run into any technical difficulties with that, feel free to open a support case.
Please review our FAQ for more information regarding the upcoming migration/conversion process.
We also have this Knowledge Base article, which details the process and emphasizes that it is a guided upgrade with email pre-registration only, as of yet.

Re: V13 Appliance V13 classic and backup chains
Hi, Thanks for your message.
I registered to the Conversion page.
Rebuilding all from scratch seems a good opportunity to review backups design and policies. Recreating the Backup jobs, importing backups and then makes the remapping seems the easiest way to proceed for the moment if i understand.
Is there already a tool to migrate from V13 to V13 Appliance in using the configuration file, or is something treated case by case by the The Team Veeam migration ?
Thanks
Best regards,
Nicolas

Hello, Nicolas,
Yes, as of today, it is served on a case-by-case basis with email registration.
We are working on improving that.
