Backup Repositry - Extending Windows Disks

Hi,

Very new to Veeam and currently in testing mode for a DR project, we are currently using vRanger. We plan to move all the backup jobs over to Veeam and to create replication jobs for the critical VM's.

My Backup Repositry, a Windows 2008 Data Centre VM, has a system drive, c:\, and a 500GB drive, d:\, for the Veeam Backup Repositry. I will need more space to host the backups and am wondering...

1. Is adding some more 500GB disks to the VM and extend the existing d:\ drive within Windows good or bad practice?
2. Would backup performace be affected?
3. What's the maximum capacity I could go to?

For production we have an EqualLogic SAN and 3 x ESXi 4.1 servers and for backup we have an MD1000, loan EqualLogic SAN and 1 x ESXi 4.1 server.

Greg, feel free to extend the disks of your backup repository, this will not affect your backup jobs in any way.
