Fixed: Failed to logon user when backing up to Buffalo NAS

Post by svallarian » 1 person likes this post

Thought I'd share a workaround we ran into this morning.

We were trying to write to a Buffalo NAS box that's attached to the network, but not to any domain.
We had it mapped via a network drive, but when we tried to backup using Veeam 6.1 free, it kept telling us
"Failed to logon user ."

Looking in the logs gave us this, which wasn't much help:
[Backup & Replication] The parameter is incorrect.\n\nFailed to logon user

We simply passed "guest" as the userid with no password (guest is a valid user on the buffalo) and veeam happily fired up the backup.

So if anyone is having this trouble, make sure you pass veeam *something*
