Create VeeamZip backups from an existing set of backups

Post by dbvmlon »

Hi,
Is there a way (or could there be a way) to create a VeeamZip "portable" version of a backup from an existing backup stream, specifying say a target date/time to pull the backup from and have it assemble the VeeamZip image from the closest successful backup after the date/time specified

The use case for this is fairly simple, to pick a date/time and create some standalone backups that are known good to archive off to tape

Thanks

Hi Darren,

VeeamZIP can only be targeted at existing "live" VMs. You cannot pick up a desired VM from the backup chain, but thanks for sharing your use case.

Is there a way you could suggest that I achieve my use case using other functionality?

It is not possible to create a standalone backup file for a specific date by pulling data from the existing backup chain. If you want to offload full backup files to tape, then you might want to use reversed incremental backup mode and configure SureBackup job to verify each job run.

If SureBackup reports that the restore point has been successfully verified, then proceed with offloading the created VBK file to tape.
