Hello Thomas,

Unfortunately, there is no way auto generate a backup job. Could you tell us why do you want to use 1 to 1 way jobs configuration? I'm asking this cause in this way the benefit of de-duplication will be reduced. We recommend to add similar VMs to one job (for ex. created from one template e.t.c), in this way you'll see all the benefits of de-duplication technology (replacing similar blocks with links to the original block).

Thank you.

Thanks for your quick answer.

We would like to do this for 2 reasons:

- We are using external scheduler and we would like to choose the time for backup for each VM
- We would like to rerun backup job if one VM failed without reruning the full back job.

Thomas,

Let me start from your second statement:

- We've got this possibility, it is a retry option, it tries to backup failed VMs in the job, without rerunning the whole job. So, for example, if you have 10 VMs in the job and configured a retry option, and 2 of your VMs failed to backup due to some reasons, the job will try to backup one more time those Failed VMs without backing up again 10 VMs.

As for scheduling, we've got a good scheduling options. Can you tell us whether you've faced any troubles using it that forced you to use external scheduler?

Thank you

Thomas,

Let me also add that in the upcoming release of Veeam Backup and Replication 4.0, you'll have a possibility to use our new PowerShell integration capabilities to perform any Veeam Backup UI operation using PS script. For example, you will be able to auto generate jobs as you want right now.
